Talented, confident, energetic, emotion-filled, fun. All these words and more describe Victoria Schafer, a successful country singer whose raw and powerful voice blends pure country with a dollop of blues and a dash of rock. Toss in a dynamic “all eyes on her” stage presence, and this Chinook, Montana native serves up one hot recipe for unparalleled success.
Many know her as Vicki Jeanne, a singer who has opened for recording artists such as Collin Raye, The Nitty Gritty Band, Marshall Tucker, Baillie and The Boys, Dan Seals, Randy Travis, Little Jimmy Dickens, and more. Additionally, she was part of two independent films and had appearances on The Nashville Network’s “You Can Be a Star” and “Be a Star.” She has produced two videos, “I Don’t Love You Anymore” and “Come Away with Me,” which have also aired on TNN.
Although she’s been big places, she hails from humble country roots. She grew up on a cattle ranch with four brothers and a sister, singing at every chance she could. Her first performance was in 2nd grade when she sang “This Train is Bound for Glory,” where many were stunned at her natural gift for voice and performance. From then on, she sang lead vocals in many other shows, along with being a part of top vocal groups, such as All Northwest Choir; All State Choir; and the Hi-Liners, her high school’s highest ranked choir.
In her senior year of high school, she joined a band. While serving as lead vocalist, she began taking guitar lessons and decided she wanted to get an education in music, leading her to start college at University of Montana as a music major. Stepping out on her own, Vicki Jeanne created a three-and-a-half-hour one-woman show. After about a year of solo work, she was approached by several musicians to put together a band. She took their advice and left the solo arena behind.
With her band, she toured the Northwest for a while, where she won several contests and proved her prowess as a rock-solid musician. After being advised from a radio jockey to check out Nashville, she decided to pack up her things and call Music City home.
With a smile to catch your heart, a showy but classy presence, and a powerful voice, Victoria Schafer expresses through music what country is all about.
